What to Drink

Drink mostly fresh and pure water.

Drink 1/2 ounce for every pound of body weight. A 160 pound person needs 80 ounces of water, which is equal to 10 glasses of water daily. Choose bottled, distilled or reverse-osmosis water and avoid tap water.

Store your water in glass containers or  plastic bottles with the following designations: polycarbonate, #5PP, #2HDPE, or #4LDPE. Add a pinch of Himalayan, Celtic or Hawaiian Red salt or a few drops of fresh citrus juice to water to energize it. Check the pH of the water to make sure it is alkaline (pH of 8 or above); pH of 9 - 9.5 is best. You can check pH with litmus paper. If the pH is below 8 it is a good idea to alkalize it. O2 drops, minerals drops and other alkalizing agents are available at health food stores and natural pharmacies. You can also purchase water machines which microcluster and alkalize water. Drink fresh vegetable juices. Many people should avoid fruit juice altogether. If drinking fruit juice, dilute fresh fruit juice it with 50% water. Avoid fruit drinks and juices with added sugar, preservatives, corn syrup or artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame, NutraSweet, Sweet N’ Low and Splenda.  Consider the purchase of a juicer. The best is the Vita-Mix. Avoid pasteurized dairy; choose raw dairy or organic products. Limit coffee or caffeinated drinks to two per day, if any. Choose organic coffee at all times. For the occasional alcoholic beverage, choose fermented drinks such as beer and red wine. Avoid distilled alcohol such as scotch, bourbon, vodka and gin.
