Exercise

To maintain flexibility and circulation, do 30 minutes of walking, swimming or other whole body aerobic exercise three times a week. We recommend that alternate at least two typed of exercise. One day take a walk in the park and the next a bike ride at the beach.

To balance the nervous system, we’ll teach you an exercise called the MPower March. Based upon the Yoga position ‘The Warrior”, this exercise is akin the reset button on your computer. Perform this exercise in the morning and night. We’ll show you how.

Other types of exercise focus on strength, coordination, rehabilitation and balance. These should be performed based upon need and with proper instruction.

If you suffer from arthritis or pain, we recommend pool therapy. Contact the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org for The Arthritis Foundation Aquatics Program (AFAP). You can also order their free brochure, "Water Exercise: Pools, Spas and Arthritis," to get examples of specific exercises that might benefit you.

If you just can’t seem to find the time to exercise, consider Quatro. This is a series of 4 minute high intensity exercises. You only need to work up to three a day. All of us can find 12 minutes. You can contact them at www.quatrofitness.comwww.quatrofitness.com.

The PACE™: Progressively Accelerating Cardiopulmonary Exertion was developed by Dr. Al Sears, M.D. This system takes aerobic exercises such as walking, swimming, treadmill or elliptical and has you exercising in brief bursts, to signal your body to rebuild in strength and convince it you don’t need to store fat. You can then regain the muscular and lean physique that is your true heritage. You can get more information at: www.alsearsmd.com

Here is an example of an ideal exercise program: Walking or swimming for circulation, 30 minutes three times per week; MPower march for the brain and nervous system, 2 minutes twice every day; Yoga for flexibility and mind-body synchronization, 2-3 times per week.

Mind-body exercise is great option. This included Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Yoga, Pilates and martial arts. We recommend you include one of these amongst your options.
