Breathe

In the home, eliminate odors, stop smoking and throw away or recycle chemicals, paints, pesticides and other air contaminates. Consider an air-filtration system for your home. We recommend the Photo-Catalytic Ionization method. Avoid the Ozone method. In the work place, ensure proper ventilation and wear proper CAL-OHSA approved precautionary equipment. On poor air-quality days, stay inside as much as possible.

Perform breathing exercises every day. When you wake up in the morning, take four or five deep breaths, enough air to make your stomach protrude. Repeat this throughout the day.

Four square breathing is an excellent method for relaxation. Sit comfortably and take a deep breath through the nose over 4 counts; now hold the breath for 4 counts; slowly let your breath out through the mouth over 4 counts; lastly, hold the breath for fours counts. Repeat for a few minutes.

If  you have high blood pressure, perform one nostril breathing. Close off one nostril with a finger; breath in through the other nostril, hold for a few counts and let it out. Repeat procedure for a minute and then do the exercise with the other nostril.

Research has found that 13 common house plants can neutralize most if not all indoor air pollutants. In fact, it's been discovered that since the plants actually thrived on the very chemicals that make humans ill, the more exposure they got, the more efficient they became. Just 15-20 of these wonderful plants will purify an 1800 square foot home. Choose from the following plants: AGLAONEMA treubii - Chinese Evergreen, CHLORPHYTUM comosum Vittatum - Spider or Airplane plants, DRACAENA fragens - Cornplant, DRACAENA marginata, FICUS benjamina - Weeping Fig, HEDERA helix - Engligh Ivy, NEPHROLEPIS ex. Bostoniensis - Boston Fern, ORCHIDACEAE - Orchid, PHILODENDRONS, especially oxycardium - Heart-leaf, PHOENIX roebelenii- Dwarf/Pigmy Date Palm, SYNGONIUM podophyllum - Arrowhead plant, SANSEVIERIA, SCINDAPSUS aureus - Devil's Ivy, including Silver Pothos, Pothos Gold and Pothos Marble Queen, and SPATHIPHYLLUM clevelandii - Peace-lilly, White Flag.
