Chloride
Chloride helps regulate acid-alkaline balance in the blood and the passage of fluids across cell membranes. It is needed for the production of hydrochloric acid and hence for protein digestion. It also activates the production of amylase enzyme needed for carbohydrate digestion. Chloride is essential for the proper growth and functioning of the brain. The most important source of chloride is in naturally occurring salts like Himalayan, Celtic and Hawaiian Red. Lacto-fermented beverages (Kombucha and Kvass) and bone broths provide easily assimilated chloride. Other sources are celery and coconut.
